my trip to the grocery store

By Doktor Holocaust

Today at the grocery store, I saw a kid in the frozen foods section wearing black leggings with leg-bones drawn on them, a newsboy cap, and a biker jacket with one sleeve green and the other purple.

he must’ve been around 17 or younger.  after seeing him a couple other times in the store, i discnered he was mostly there to keep one of the stockboys company.  He reminded me of when i was that age, and liked to dress in a vaguely threatening, somewhat spooky way because I thought it would make people older than me at the time uncomfortable.

Today was my first real experience on the other end of that equation.  at 28, I’m one of the Old People from a teenager’s perspective.  My first response was “ooh, neat hat!” because I have a fondness for classic gentleman’s hats (only have a fedora and a top hat in the wardrobe so far, but that will change as budget permits).  my second thought was “looks like someone got Hot Topic gift cards for Christmas.”

This made me chuckle. And the Hot Topic reference was exact. Keep to the wit…
